The Hike that Founded Hike

As a collective, our team had been bringing stories to screen for years.  As we grew, we discovered we not only loved showcasing the brand identities of our clients, but helping those brand identities grow. We recognized the importance of a brand voice but ironically enough, we couldn’t pinpoint ours. We had the name, team, skillset, and passion – we knew that adventure was key and by seeking it we could help our clients create game changing content – but we struggled finding ways to talk about ourselves.

But that all changed when our founder, Megan St. John, found herself in Canada for a ten day shoot with nothing but a backpack filled with Cliff bars and a pair of hiking boots on her feet. As she trekked up the homestretch of a mostly-vertical 8k trail, she kept spotting little orange reflective squares ahead, tacked onto trees to keep her on the right path – a way finding device, to get her to her destination.

Intrigued, her brain started racing around what a hike really is. Sure, it can be grueling, but beyond that it’s an adventure – something that you embark on in hopes of discovering something unfamiliar or reaching new personal heights.  They can come with challenges and tough terrain, epic views and breathtaking moments, but in the end a hike makes for a good story – and good stories are worth sharing.

By the time Megan passed the last orange square on the trail, the brand voice behind Hike Creative had been born. A little cliche, we know. But the ethos is something we truly believe in.

At Hike, we are guides, mapping out journeys and trekking trails together with our clients. We believe video is the most successful medium to create brand awareness, acting as a wayfinding device to bring audiences to you.  We don’t wear hiking boots around the office, but we do believe stories of adventure make for the best stories – and we believe there is adventure in every brand. Let’s find it together.
